Ask, Feel and Experiment your Way Through a Creative 2015

creative, questions, question mark

Happy Creative New Year! Time to reset your mind, heart and soul – to pick a new direction that ties in the lessons of 2014 and sparks your heart to dig into new opportunities and supportive soul connections. Easy to say or set as a goal, right? Definitely not always easy to do.

So how do you start to open up to some fresh insights that feel natural and in alignment with the vibe of the year ahead? By setting goals? Cleaning out some closets or drawers? Making kick-ass snow angels? Drinking an extra bottle of champagne before brainstorming? Making up crafty excuses to explain why you still aren’t doing XX?

Before you get caught up in the how’s, should’s and tactics of a fresh creative slate – start with something much simpler.

Ask yourself what you really want – then spend more than 5 minutes thinking about it.

Get into a State of Alignment Before Making Grand Plans

What you think you need to do in order to expand your sense of self, find your calling or grow your business is all valuable information, but what do you really want to be, feel, accomplish or experience? Knowing and feeling into these pieces of inner insight creates the legs for all the “tactical” things to stand on, grow and expand into something tangible outside of the heart and mind.

The key actions I’ve listed in the title of this blog post – ask, feel and experiment – combined with the added fuel of staying present as much as possible is what leads you along the creative catwalk, feeding the journey towards what’s possible from this point forward instead of concentrating all your energy on tracking certainties.

Surprises in life are part of the creative fun. Even if planning helps focus your energy and attention, it takes courage and self-love to ask the deeper questions and produce responses that reflect your truth, and shape into the stepping stones (goals) to generate a genuine creative experience.

Here area few short questions to help get your mind, body and spirit operating as one cohesive unit:

  • What makes you nervous?
  • What makes you excited?
  • Are there things you’ve postponed (with valid reason) Are those reasons still valid? Why or why not?
  • Name 3 things that would make you happy right now.
  • Name 3 things you would change right now if you could.

This gives you a simple way to tap into what you want, how it makes you feel and provide some objective perspective to view some of the obstacles that may (or may not) really be in your way.

Now go enjoy your 2015 filled with whatever the heck it is you WANT to do as much as you can- and pay attention to the creative flutters it inspires. That’s the real gold!

Peace, love and fun along your next creative journey!
